D&D Beyond Integration

Never mind, now I see, I need both to import content.

Hi! I’m having an issue, having imported Storm King’s Thunder.

Some scenes are completely missing, while most don’t have background images but still have Foundry walls and lighting, some have nothing. Any suggestions?

I can confirm the issue… the image is set properly in the metadata so I’m unsure why the converted book doesn’t have it set (I only see map 1.1 with the background image set). We’re looking into the issue, thanks for reporting it.

Is it possible the option to load ForgottenAdventures (for FA patreon users) token artwork ?

Thanks,
L.

A post was split to a new topic: Integrate D&D Beyond items

Hi there @aiacos
The D&D Beyond integration doesn’t automate replacing token art with art from another source at this stage. You would however be able to customize the token art after it has been imported to your world.

Hope that helps!

Is there a way for me to update the tokens within the compendium itself, that way if I run the same adventure twice I don’t have to make the changes a second time?

Hi there

I’ll also add that you can import content from the compendium and then edit that imported content, and then save it to your own shared compendium module using the flow described here How to Share Content Between Worlds to share it between any of your worlds.

I have imported the core rulebook 2024 players handbook for 5e but the character cards do not have the backgrounds or races of the imported books.

Hi! So I am looking into importing the material I own from DNDBeyond (World Builder tier subscription, so it should be possible), but the Chrome extension that is required seems to have been removed from Chrome. Any way around this?

That’s unfortunate! I thought the requirement of Chrome to use ā€œManifest V3ā€ (which is their thing to prevent adblockers from working) would only prevent the extension from being marked as ā€œFeaturedā€, not that it would prevent users from installing it.
Anyways, I’ve posted an update now to the extension which should allow them to re-enable it, I assume once it’s approved by the Chrome review team (can take anywhere from an hour to a few days), the extension will become available to install again.
Thanks for letting us know!

Thanks for looking into this! I’ll check on the status in a few days then. Thank you!

The new version is now available in the chrome store if you want to give it a try.
Thanks again!

Confirmed it is now working and available! Thank you!

Hey there, I’m fairly new to VTT and Foundry as a whole, but discovered all of this recently and I’m trying to work through something.

When I first setup Foundry, I could drag and drop one of the starter races onto my character sheet, like High Elf, and it would auto populate the CS with that race, same with classes.

However, the PHB 2024 Edition just creates journal entries, and so I can’t seem to drag and drop anything onto the character sheet. Is this working as intended?

For instance, I have a player that I’m making their character for to ā€œlearnā€ how to use the system, and they want to play a ā€œDrow Barbarianā€. I don’t see the option to put Drow anywhere onto the CS. Am I completely misusing this feature, and if so does anyone know how I can import the Drow?

I have the 2024 Digital PHB on DDB, I have the Patreon sub to Mr Primate, I have imported my books to ā€œThe Forgeā€ using their Beta Importer Tool, and I’ve ā€œImportedā€ the PHB inside my game world (The entire thing). Is my understanding that all this does is let me look at the books as if I had physical copies?

Not trying to downplay how good having this feature is, I was just hoping for more widespread integration.

How do you get this to import, I have the extsion and books but can’t import

Love that this tool exists. I’ve tried using it because I wanted a better way to get the monsters from the Monster Manual 2024. But so far they appear to all suffer from the same problem of not creating attacks as attacks, but rather as features that don’t roll dice. Is that something that will fix over time? Or should I go back to other methods of importing my DDB content? Thanks!

Hi, yes, it’s listed in this article on what to expect:

  • Items/Equipement and Magic Items do not have any of their stats set, only the description of the item

It is something we’re still continuing to work on and I expect to see it fully implemented sometime in 2025.
Thanks for giving our beta tool a try and for the feedback!

I see the exact same behavior. Looks like I’d have to buy the Foundry module if I want it to actually work.
