Hello everyone,
I’ve been running my campaign on Forge VTT for the past few months, and I’m absolutely loving the platform so far. However, I’ve recently noticed some performance issues that I can’t seem to resolve. I wanted to reach out to the community to see if anyone has experienced similar problems or might have suggestions for optimization.
Here’s my current setup:
- System: D&D 5e
- Modules Installed: Around 15-20 active modules (e.g., Monk’s Enhanced Journal, Dynamic Active Effects, Token Mold, and Compendium Folders).
- Players: 6-8 players consistently.
- Browser: Chrome (both for me as GM and most of my players).
The specific issues I’m encountering include:
- Slow Loading Times: Some maps, especially ones with high-res assets and more tokens, take noticeably longer to load.
- Lag During Combat: When multiple tokens are moving or effects like dynamic lighting are active, there’s significant lag.
- Module Conflicts: I suspect that some modules might be conflicting, but I can’t pinpoint which ones are the culprits.
I’ve already tried a few things:
- Clearing browser cache
- Reducing the map resolution and token sizes
- Disabling some non-essential modules
Despite these efforts, the performance still isn’t where I’d like it to be.
Does anyone have tips for troubleshooting module conflicts or suggestions for improving performance with multiple active modules? Are there any specific modules known to cause issues that I should look out for?

Thanks in advance for helping me make my Forge VTT experience smoother for my players!
