You have accessed The Forge from Israel, which is under sanctions

Hello,

I have been flagged incorrectly as accessing The Forge from Israel. I live in the UK and never been there. I have contacted supported, but they’re requesting a photo ID. Due to privacy concerns I am not willing to provide this. Has anyone had this and have you been able to get support to reset it?

A post today has stated, their script was miss identifying a large number of users, but looks like I am still on the list…

For background information, I do use a VPN, but never selected Israel.

Hey there, there was a bug that was flagging users incorrectly with location detection algorithm which uses anonymized IPs, this has been addressed 4 days a go, as can be seen here.

Unfortunately only way to confirm users origin is via official documents, privacy concern is understandable but rest assured this information is handled with utmost respect to user privacy and with compliance of Canadian law, not to used for anything else other than confirming users identity to resolve these issues.

Hope that helps clear up your issue on this.

Hello,

I live in the UK and never been to Israel or any place in the Middle East. So from that, the detection algorithm is broken. Please can you ask your technical staff to investigate. They have discovered a bug before due to misreporting, so must have more bugs to find:). If you contact me privately, I would be happy to provide you the name of the VPN I use.

Regarding your privacy policy, I cannot see a statement on how you would be handling sensitive photographic ID. It does reference name, email address etc, but not photographic ID. Personally, due to the number of companies being compromised, I would only share those documents with government or banking organisations.

Are you getting other people contacting you about this?

I can further confirm that this player in my rpg group is an irl white-british born nationality friend who I have known for 31 years. I run a 3 player group of all 3 ex-university english friends. If you start blocking them over some erroneous detection algorithm I’ll find another hosting solution.

Kind Regards.
