Update DND Beyond Content

Hello,

I’ve built a Curse of Strahd game using the DND Beyond importer to import the module as a world. It’s been a few months since I did that and there have been updates to it since including compatibility with V13. I tried updating the content via the DND Beyond importer, but when I look at my world the book (along with the Monster Manual and PHB which I also tried) aren’t updated in my game. It’s still showing the old version that was there prior to my attempting update it.

Is there a way to update this content in a running game?

Thanks,
Neolegacy

Hi Neolegacy,

We’re currently tackling an issue with DND Beyond importer so this might be related.
A thing to try is to completely remove these books from your Forge storage and attempt to import them again, if that fails please try using the manifest link for those books.

Let me know if that woks.

Hi akisfm,

Thanks for the response. What impact would removing the books / modules from my world and then reinstalling them have on my current campaign? Would it lose data or the like?

Thanks,

Hello. You would not lose data already imported into the campaign. You would lose access to the ability to import content temporarily, but obviously that’s fixed by reinstalling it.

That’s helpful, thank you. I tried this, but it doesn’t seem to have worked. I uninstalled the Player’s Handbook via the Forge Bazaar and deleted it’s corresponding folder under “My Assets Library/DnDBeyond”. I then reinstalled the content via the Forge Bazaar. Once I looked at the version number of the newly installed module, it shows 0.5.16 while the DnDBeyond entry shows 0.6.16.

I’m not sure if there is something else I need to do to uninstall the content, but it does seem like it’s taking the previously installed version number and re-downloading that instead.

Another theory is that the Forge Bazaar / Foundry is just not showing the correct version? I do note that it’s only one minor version difference while the patch number remains the same.

This isn’t a huge fire by any stretch of the imagination, but it is odd behavior and I do like to keep everything up to date if possible.

Thanks again for the responses and help!
