Suggested mods for beginner trying to not look like a noob?

Hail and Well Met!

I am a Certified Therapeutic Game Master and Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor offering tabletop roleplaying game therapy, and I’m new to Foundry and the Forge. I was trying to self-host for a bit, so, I’ve had some time to experiment a little, but I feel woefully unprepared to start using it with my clients. I had it running locally, but trying to tunnel it through to a subdomain on my website wasted so many hours of my life that I will never get back. Anyway, when I had this set up locally, I installed all kinds of mods. I got super mod happy and I’m pretty sure there are some conflicts and I don’t really know how to use them all anyway. Where do I start, and what do I layer on incrementally? BTW, I have the 5.5 ruleset for D&D along with a few modules I wanted to use, so the assets are all there, I just need to know how to use them, and I need it to be as simple as possible so I can focus on the story and the therapy parts. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Be Well,

Frank
Heroes Quest Therapy

Hi there Frank.

It is genuinely amazing to see VTT platforms being used in such a manner, kudos to you!
As a first time user of Foundry and Forge I would recommend you to go through our getting started Index as it covers most if not all questions one may have with, well, getting started.

Regarding modules, there are many, many modules to pick from to tailor the game to your needs, most of them are made by Foundry community members and are free, some are one time purchases such as asset packs, others require Patreon subscription for their respective creators.

I would recommend you join our Forge Discord channel, and also Foundry Discord channel, there you will find thousands of game masters that can steer you in the right direction in regards to which modules to use and even maybe different systems that might better suit your needs.

Happy gaming!
