Hi, I’m DMing an Advanced Dungeons & Dragons campaign on Foundry and am looking for another player to round out our group. We play every other week, usually on a weeknight (often on Tues, Wed or Thurs) from 7 to 11pm or 6 to 10pm.
This campaign is still at low levels, so it’s easy to join. Please contact if interested.
Well, it takes some getting used to but once you know it it’s easy. How are you with tech? We run a Zoom window for communication between us and a separate window open for the game. It works really well if you have a tablet running the Zoom and a desktop or laptop running the game. Have you played AD&D before?
I am not fully accumulated to AD&D but very open to learn more and I am also a quick study. But I have used Foundry before for another campaign. @gartain
Okay, sorry about the delay. So, can you do a zoom for maybe 15 minutes? I’d just like to get a better sense of your experience with D&D on the whole and what I should start thinking about in terms of teaching you 1e. If you’d rather keep texting here we can do that too, just let me know.
I am going to say I would like stay online for now and I have no detailed basic knowledge of 1e/AD&D, also I am a quick learner so I would hope it would take long for me to learn at least a comfortable amount of information. Currently, I am only familiar with the rules of Castles & Crusades, DnD 5e 2014 & 2024, and a very small amount of DnD 3.5e, those are the only things I have knowledge or experience from. If u would like to private message me then that would be cool as well as on this forum. @gartain
Okay, sounds good. So, the first thing to do would be to build a character. Here’s a book at the link below that shows you the way it goes in 1e AD&D. Probably the first 30 pages would give you a lot to think about in terms of class, race, scores etc. It’s not that different from 5e. Just a little simpler, which helps the game to move faster IMHO. -Joe
@gartain. Thnxs I will take a look through it, hope it doesn’t take long to grasp and one small question, what is ur method for attribute scores like standard, manual or something like that??
Multis are great, we have four of them. I’ve loosened the restrictions on their level maximums, so if you have a specific question about how high in level a particular class can progress just let me know.
Here’s a method that has worked well for us. You are given 72 pts. Add 2d8 to that number and place the scores on the ability of your choice. This should enable you to get better than average scores, and to be able to meet any race/class attribute requirements.
Sounds like a plan, still reading thru the book so it may take a bit with personal life stuff but I will definitely keep u posted on the result. @gartain
