Hi everyone! So I’m running a Fabula Ultima campaign for some friends and one of them has a Chromebook. I troubleshooted with them, but they were unable to even start up the game. They log in just fine, can access the forge main website, they were able to join the game, but when they launch it, they are met with a black screen with nothing else. We’ve tried refreshing the page, restarting the server, nothing seems to work. We were looking to see if hardware acceleration was enabled on their chrome, but couldn’t find the option, so I am assuming it’s not enabled. Has anyone ran into any similar issues while playing or running a game in Forge through a chromebook?
Do they have Graphics Acceleration turned on?
Hey there Cappucino.
As another user mentioned, they may want to examine if they have hardware acceleration enabled. As you mentioned the settings can be a little obscure. See our guide on hardware acceleration here..
You can also check to see what size maps they can load by running a webGL test here: WebGL Report
Look to the max texture size and see if your map dimensions exceed what their Chromebook can handle.
Hi, took me a second, but we have checked and she does have Hardware Acceleration enabed.
Thank you for the help! I checked with the player and she has Hardware Acceleration enabled. We have checked the WebGL Report and turns out she has the same Max Texture Size as I do, and I’m able to load the map no problem. She is met with just a black screen with nothing appearing. On her PC everything worked fine, she used a different browser, though, but sadly Chromebooks don’t seem to allow other browsers to be installed.
Alright Cappucino, thanks for clarifying. Could you get them to open their browser console and see what kind of errors they get upon loading in?
