[LF2M] [Free] [SF] [Fri 7pm CST] Weekly Sci-Fi TTRPG group seeking new players! Adult required, but veteran & novice accepted

First and foremost, we will be playing every Friday at 7:00pm CST (American central standard time). Our sessions are generally set for 3 hours. If you are interested in joining, make sure you can actually dedicate 3 hours on a Friday evening to the game. Please read the entire ad before responding.

We’re a TTPG group that’s been playing together for years, due to schedule conflicts, we’ve lost several members and are searching for newcomers to the table. We play Starfinder currently, and plan to stick with it for some time. We’ve ran with D&D 5e before that, and a homebrew system before that. As the GM, I put a lot of effort into the stories I tell, always prioritizing player initiative and agency. As a group of players, we do our best to indulge in a roleplay heavy environment, though from time to time have plenty of combat. Just know that at this table, roleplay comes first and these players tend to talk their way out of and around problems. Also, I play music and sound effects to set the atmosphere, pictures and detailed maps to help with immersion and visuals to help paint a better picture. I do my best to bring NPCs to life with various details and always give my best to give them a unique voice, and encourage players to do the same if they’re comfortable doing so.

The setting is using Starfinder as the base, but I generally like to bring my own locales into play as often as possible, so just know it’s a sci-fi setting and you’ll be fine, whether or not you know anything at all about Starfinder specifically. There’s space travel, visiting strange and familiar worlds, dealing with all kinds of creatures and problems, and more playable races than you could ever imagine. The classes can be a bit confusing to newcomers, but we’re always happy to sit down with people at our table and explain how something works…or figure it out with them.

All players must be 18+ and autonomous with the free time surrounding game night. Meaning, we’re only taking adult aged players that won’t have to answer to someone every 10 minutes, or have your parents tell you to do something right in the middle of a session. Been there before years ago, no plans on returning to that arc in the group. You do NOT need to know how to play Starfinder to join. We accept novices and veterans alike. We’re primarily looking for players that will be able to make every session, barring unforeseen emergencies and those will be excited to play each week! We play online using Discord for voice and Foundry for our tabletop. There is plenty of automation that allows things like combat to run very smoothly, but also getting used to Starfinder isn’t so bad when the VTT does a lot of the heavy lifting for you! Tutorials will be given for anyone unfamiliar with Foundry. It’s very easy to use, and can do a lot.

There are just a few simple requirements that most players should have no problem meeting.

Make sure you can:

  • Show up on time (for the most part) on Friday every week. Obviously emergencies come up from time to time, and that is certainly alright if rare.
  • Be in charge of your time surrounding game night.
  • Be mature, and capable of handling mature material. This does not mean you can’t goof off, make jokes or get up to shenanigans!
  • Keep IRL politics and religion out of the game! We’ll have enough trouble dealing with all of that in-game!
  • Be invested in the game. This doesn’t mean you have to make spreadsheets and take extensive in and out of character notes, but at least take some level of interest in the happenings in game.
  • Be willing to learn your character’s abilities, even if you have to ask others in the group for help.
  • Pay attention to the game. Please don’t be one of those people chronically on their phone or playing something else.
  • Play your character, don’t try to game the system for the laughs. Have fun, but if you’re someone that researches power builds or makes one-dimensional joke characters, this won’t be the game for you.
  • While the GM invites player discussion on game rules, once the GM makes a ruling that is final unless he states he’s open to further discussion later. If you must constantly argue rules with the GM, nobody at our table needs that stress.
  • Be able to enjoy a roleplay heavy environment where players take in the game’s world, story, NPCs and lore. If you get bored when players talk to NPCs, sometimes risking their lives for said NPCs (sometimes with no promised reward), this may not be the game for you.
  • Be able to use voice chat in Discord during the game session.

If you find the sound of this game and gaming group interesting and a possible perfect fit for what you’re seeking, then by all means send me a Private Message! Please begin with the minimum age all players must be to join, so your message at least gives the appearance of having read the entire ad. Tell me a little about what you’re looking for in a TTRPG group, about your RPG history (if any) and what sort of player you see yourself as!

Looks fun! I sent a message, if recruitment is still open.

We are full now, thank you to everyone interested!
