Gunslinger Knights: From Squire To Legend [Saturday 3:30pm EST] [Cypher] [$15] [Free Sessions 0&1] [New Player Friendly] [Startplaying]

Whether born into the Oaths, or adopting them at a young age, you are a Gunslinger Knights Squire. You have been brought together with other squires for the final test, proving you all have been taught in the ways of Honor, Magic, Loyalty and Duty.

You and your fellow squires will be sent to aid your fellow knights for an oncoming storm of Monsters; helping guide and protect the innocent, and keeping the promises of a century old treaty well in tact.

If your team is successful, you will be inducted into the knights proper, forging your legend of heroism with new found friends. Should you all fail, further training or banishment is well rooted in the back of your mind; but in truth, forces in secret prepare a fate worse than death, for you and the city you were sworn to protect.

Game System Details:

To be more Direct, Cypher is a rules medium, setting agnostic game system, where there are materials to run any kind of story you’d like, from fantasy, sci fi, western and even some life sim. Not to mention the opportunity to kit bash any or all of these genres together. Generally the game is played using a d20 for most tasks, whether it be for combat or rp. The gm NEVER rolls, only the players.

As your gm, my job is to present to you, challenges in all aspects of gameplay: RP, Combat, Exploration. I provide an expected difficulty level between 1-10, with Level 4 tasks being a middle ground of possible but challenging. Once the task level is declared, we then multiply the level by 3 and that represents what you the player must meet or beat on a d20 roll.

Factor in the skills and abilities your character has; and your allies willingness to get in on any shenanigans, and you can lower any declared difficulty down to a 0, an immediate success OR lower a ungodly impossible task of 10(30) into a slim but believable chance.

Gunslinger Knights is an official settings book from Monte Cook games (makers of the Cypher system) and it is honestly the coolest dumbest thing I’ve been blessed to lay my eyes on. I’ve read this book front to back several times and plan to do several more times. I am obsessed with the concept of magic cowboy knights and I wanna share with you all just how goofy, cool and heartbreaking a setting and a game like this can be.

So…what are you waiting for?

An excerpt from the Gunslinger knights book and lore.:

Now listen to my tale, and well. For I speak of the winds both fair and foul that blew across the Stair Across Souls and the good and

noble folk that built Castle True at its very top.

I speak of the beasts of the Crawling Deeps and those who gave up hearth and home to stand watch in that stout fortress against them. These hearty and fearless ones braced the worlds of color and sound against the

threats that promised only destruction and dissolution.

I speak of war eternal, the Silvered Throne, and of none other than the Dreamed Blade.

It thus befell in the days of aged Cadmius Coldswain, whilst he was lord of Castle True and so reigned, that Beryl and Phorus, two wardens of the Castle serving Cadmius with neither hesitation nor fault, gathered there the greatest among them.

“We have spied horrors most dire,” they told their fellows. “The festering of the Crawling Deeps spreads and thickens like a malingering cancer.”The other wardens nodded gravely. “But what can be done?” was their whispered response.

Beryl and Phorus replied as one. “We can no longer simply remain in this watchtower, no matter how faithful and reliable its stone and steel have been. We must ride out and carry the fight to these fell invaders, and the worlds upon which they fall.”

“As one we must ride,” Beryl continued, “on noble steeds crafted, not born, forged by the unmatched cleverness of the hands of my brother Phorus through skills unknown elsewhere, each with a sliver of the Silvered Throne and thus transporting its soul.”

“As well,” Phorus declared, “we must wield noble arms against these foes. While we cannot each carry the Dreamed Blade, we can brandish weapons of glistening steel devised by the limitless imagination of my sister Beryl, each holding a modicum of the essence of that holy relic granting its sacred and profound power against the gathering darkness.”

The wardens gathered cheered as one with courage and honor. These gallant souls did become the first Knights of the Order, and while some would say the greatest Knights, others suggest the greatest are still to come.
