[LFP] [Free] [D&D 5e] [Thursdays] [7pm UTC -4] [Beginners]

System: D&D 5e (Blend of 2014 & 2024)

Schedule: Weekly Thursday 7:00pm -10:30pm Eastern (23:00-02:30 GMT)

Expected Start Date: 6/5/2025

Players: 3-5 (0/5 slots filled.)

Setting: High fantasy and high magic. It takes place in a modified version of the Forgotten Realms (Faerun). If my setting had a movie rating it would be PG-13.

Premise: You will start in what is left of the city of Neverwinter, which was nearly destroyed by a volcanic eruption 50 years ago. The rebuilding efforts started one year ago and the city is actively seeking skilled workers, which is why your characters have gone there now.

Character creation: This will be done together during session zero. There are many roles to fulfill in an adventuring group: spokesperson, investigator, infiltrator, frontline, damage dealer, buffs & healing, control & utility, etc. Think about which of these you are most interested in (and least), this will help when choosing a Background (acolyte, artisan, criminal, entertainer, merchant, solider, etc.), Class (fighter, cleric, rogue, wizard, etc.), and Species (human, elf, dwarf, halfling, or gnome.)

Style: My estimate of how time is spent in-game is: 30% Social Interactions (your characters talking to each other and with NPCs), 30% Exploration (discovering things during adventures – obstacles, puzzles, traps, hidden objects, important information, etc.), and 40% Combat.

Game Tools: Forge-VTT (Foundry) and Discord (Voice & Chat). D&D Beyond is not required.

About me: I started playing and GMing TTRPGs over 40 years ago (AD&D, Gamma World, Boot Hill, Champions, etc.). I enjoy modifying existing modules, creating original adventures, and incorporating aspects of your PC backgrounds into the game world.

hi! I’m kind of new to D&D, played a little here and there but not extensively. I’ve played as a moon druid before but anything else I haven’t really played but up for playing anything to see how it goes so long as you can be patient with me while I learn. I’ve also never used forge or foundry before, I’ve only ever played on Roll 20
