Part of why I have been using Roll20 rather then Foundry which id prefer is that with Foundry my players were having port issues. No matter how I updated my router ppl couldnt connect. Will The Forge have this issue if the server is done through it?

Absolutely, the point of using The Forge is not to have to worry about those technical details, it should Just Work 
Your players would create a Forge account, and use the invitation link you send them, and they’ll be joining the game.
