Hello! My name is Alexander (31, he/him). A beloved staple of Dungeons & Dragons is playing “The Greyhawk Sequence,” in which three 1e adventures are stitched together back-to-back-to-back to create an entire campaign. I’d like to run The Greyhawk Sequence, but set in Forgotten Realms and updated for 5th Edition rules (hereafter named The Forgotten Realms Sequence), because both are what I know how to run.
IMPORTANT: I am a man who likes to use sex jokes and other forms of inappropriate humor; due to an inability to read my audience, I lost players who were part of a friend group of 2+ years after I did it enough times to make them uncomfortable with me. I’m trying to cut back on it, but it’s not going to happen overnight, and I guarantee you there WILL be some of those jokes in this campaign. All of that to say: if you are a minor, or you are uncomfortable with, unamused by, or just have a general dislike for sexual humor, please do not respond to this post.
Campaign Information
For the uninitiated, the three adventures in The Forgotten Realms Sequence, in order, are: The Temple of Elemental Evil, Scourge of the Slave Lords, and Queen of the Spiders. Since 5e technically already covered ToEE in the form of Princes of the Apocalypse, this campaign will be a prequel of sorts, set in DR 1441, 50 years before the start of PotA. Sessions are weekly every Wednesday from 1 PM to 5 PM Eastern Standard Time (GMT +4). We use Discord to talk, and we play on Forge VTT. This will be a long-term campaign that will take your characters from 1 to 20. Don’t worry about creating backstories for your characters; for this campaign, I will not be incorporating them into the narrative.
Speaking of backstories, I need a thinly-veiled excuse to poorly segue into informing you all in advance that The Forgotten Realms Sequence is really. Freaking. HARD. Seriously, this campaign, particularly The Temple of Elemental Evil, would turn Gandhi into a murderer, and it’s not uncommon for players to accuse the DM (sometimes falsely, other times… not so much) of playing the game against them in order to force a TPK. This campaign is not for the faint of heart, nor for players who get attached to their characters early on (or at all).
Requirements for Applying
As I’m 31 years old, I’d prefer players within that age group, so it’s highly recommended that you’re in your late 20s/early 30s; however, I will allow players as young as 21 years old. You must have a minimum of 2 years of experience playing Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition and using Foundry; I am on the autism spectrum, so I tend to operate on the logic of “if I know what I’m talking about, so do you,” so I’d be an atrocious teacher. You must have a Discord account, a Forge VTT account, and a working microphone or headset. Please make sure you can routinely show up on time. Obviously, real life happens, but always try to shoot me a heads-up ASAP if you know you’ll miss a session. If you fail to attend without telling me beforehand, and you don’t offer an explanation within 24 hours of game time, you will be kicked from the game, no questions asked.
Please be willing to interact, roleplay, and communicate with your fellow players and me; I don’t mind quiet players (as I am one myself), but I do mind uninterested players.
If you’ve made it this far, comment below or PM me with your name, age, and years of experience, and we’ll have a mini interview to see if we’ll add each other on Discord. See you then!
